Lephole's Pent Series appointment setback
Chakatsa Lephole was ready for the Windhoek Pent Netball Series
Lesotho international netball umpire Chakatsa Lephole is disappointed after his international appointment for the 2019 Pent Netball Series was cancelled at an eleventh hour.
This annual netball tournament was set to take place in Windhoek, Namibia from May 7-12, but it had to be cancelled because only two countries confirmed their participation for this year’s edition. “It would to run if at least four teams confirmed their participation but only two did so while others could not meet the INF (International Netball Federation) deadline,” Lephole says, further saying it was indeed a blow for him.
“I was ready and sacrificed my time, going extra miles to be in a good shape,” he said. This was going to be Lephole’s first international appointment this year. His last international appointment was at the Diamond Netball Challenge in South Africa from November 27- 1December last year.
“Yes, I am disappointed but we know these things do happen, and it is not happening only to me but to other umpires too. “They make us strong and I know other appointments will follow.
”Lephole also said: “It’s not the first time this happens to me and other umpires. So things like this helps one to be firm and ready to face challenges, and when you get an opportunity you just run with it.
”He further said despite his disappointment he would however continue working hard to keep himself fit and ready for any appointment that may come.
“I am now working on what’s going to come soon so that it finds me even more sharper and ready,” he said. Lephole officiated at some of big international events before, one of them being the Commonwealth Games of 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.
